AEquitas serves as the national prosecution partner to the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ) on its project entitled the Domestic Violence Homicide Prevention Firearms Technical Assistance Project (FTAP), funded in 2016 by a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women. The initiative promotes the effective implementation of firearms restrictions in domestic violence cases at the federal, state, tribal, and local levels.
NCJFCJ and its project partners, including AEquitas, the Battered Women’s Justice Project (BWJP), the Center for Court Innovation (CCI), the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), and the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center (NIWRC) are providing technical assistance and training to geographically and culturally diverse communities around the country to improve their implementation of domestic violence firearms laws.
