01 Do you only work with prosecutors?

Justice for victims of gender-based crimes requires a coordinated response across the spectrum of allied professionals and direct services. To achieve the best outcomes, we work with not only prosecutors, but equally with law enforcement, advocates, policy makers, and the media.

02 Do you provide services for victims and survivors?

We unfortunately cannot work directly with victims or witnesses. AEquitas is primarily a technical assistance provider for prosecutors and allied justice system professionals. This means we can provide training and technical assistance to justice system professionals involved in the prosecution of gender-based violence cases, but we can't become directly involved with individual cases. We can, however, refer victims and services to other support services who can help directly. These organizations include:

03 What services do you provide?

AEquitas offers legal resources, case-specific strategy consultations, collaborative initiatives with partner organizations, and national training programs in our focus areas. For the full scope of our services see "What We Do" on the Home Page.

04 Are donations tax-deductible?

Yes! AEquitas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and all donations are tax deductible.

Consultations

01 How much do consultations cost?

All consultations are free of charge.

02 Who will actually consult with me, what are their credentials, and how are they assigned to me?

One (or more) of AEquitas experienced Attorney Advisors will help you based on your needs and timeline. All of our attorney advisors are seasoned former prosecutors.

03 How long do consultations take?

The length varies depending on the complexity of your case and the related legal question(s) at issue.

04 What is AEquitas policy on confidentiality?

AEquitas has implemented policies, procedures and systems designed to help prevent any unauthorized public disclosure of any confidential information that you may share with us. From time to time, we may provide updates or comment upon current issues or trends, which may also be present in your particular case, but any such resemblance is coincidental and we would not disclose any confidential information without your prior consent. Because AEquitas does not provide legal advice or representation, communications with AEquitas are not privileged as defined by relevant rules of ethics and evidence.

05 Can I make multiple simultaneous requests? If so, how do you handle them? Do different people work on each request?

Yes, you can make multiple requests at the same time. Each of your requests is handled by an experienced attorney advisor based on your question and staff availability. You may also request to work with a specific staff member.

06 What if I have follow-up questions or need further clarification for my request?

We'll work alongside you every step of the way to understand your needs and provide necessary resources. You can always reach out to us with additional questions.

Trainings

01 What type of trainings does AEquitas do? Can I request a certain type?

AEquitas conducts both in-person and web-based trainings on a wide variety of topics related to the investigation and prosecution of sexual violence, intimate partner violence, stalking, and human trafficking. We'll work with you to determine the best training options available to meet the needs of your audience.

02 How much do your trainings cost?

Web-based trainings are free. For in-person/on-site trainings, AEquitas does not charge for materials and staff instruction, but may require travel-related expenses to be covered.

03 Who conducts the training?

AEquitas' staff of experienced prosecutors deliver the trainings. On occasion we may also partner with adjunct faculty facilitators, including but not limited to state and national experts representing law enforcement officers, judges, advocates, medical professionals, and mental health professionals.
