17th Annual International Family Justice Center Conference

April 4 - 6, 2017

Family Justice Centers have been a proven model for saving lives and helping survivors for more than a decade by co-locating domestic violence services under one roof. Collaboration works, but it can be difficult to achieve. AEquitas and Alliance for HOPE have been collaborative partners since 2011 in the fight against domestic violence, working to increase victim safety and offender accountability.

A good way to learn about best practices and the latest thinking on domestic violence and sexual assault issues is to attend the annual Family Justice Center Conference. This year, the 17th Annual International Family Justice Center Conference will be in Milwaukee, WI, the home of the largest Family Justice Center in the nation, the Sojourner Family Peace Center.

The three-day conference, “Creating Pathways to Hope for Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Survivors," addressed what trauma-informed practices look like in child abuse, sexual assault, elder abuse, human trafficking, and domestic violence. The U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) hosted two tracks of the conference, and AEquitas Attorney Advisor John Wilkinson presented one workshop in the track entitled, “Handling Non-Fatal Strangulation Cases.”
